Review of Crossroads

Author- Preeti Singh

‘Crossroads:Its all about time’ by Preeti Singh gave light on ups and downs of a woman in Indian society, tracing out Kavita, the exemplar’s story in an emotional and glorified way raising the reality which many has been through, but portrayed by one.A story woven with numerous stages of life and speaks of a woman’s heart.

As the back cover says-‘ In the journey of life we see dreams,we fall in love, we experience bliss but yet we often fall, never to rise again.

But Kavita is a fighter.

From marrying the man she loves,to becoming a protective mother,to tolerating abuse and emerging stronger from it,her life is not different from just another Indian woman.

For how long can she take the domestic violence and humilation?Does she leave her abusive husband Rajiv,in search of greener pastures with Mihir,or does she succumb to a passionate moment with a youngster,Abhinash?

Don’t we all have a right to make our identity, alone,or is marriage the only bond where one must adjust to find happiness?

Is Kavita doing anything wrong by following her heart? If it takes two to tango, where did she go wrong? Can she pamper the child in her, defy the world and live life on her own terms? Or does life give her a chance to make amends and save her precious bonds?

She is standing at the crossroads of her life and wandering which path she should follow to get some peace, something we all are seeking. Why don’t YOU,my reader hold her hand and guide her?

It’s about time.’

The way the story starts and ends left me with an emotional turmoil.Balancing past and present life of exemplar, authoress aesthetically portrayed the story leaving the suspense at each end,as how this journey would end.Writing fashion is simple and effective and readers could find themselves involved in the story. As the story paces up, book serves more twists and turns of protagonist life in a dignified way.

Portraying a tough side of a woman, authoress gave light on such an issue which is must to know to everyone and learn from it.Liveliness is presented in the story by exemplar’s bubbly nature and the conversations took over between her and her pets. From book cover to the title of the book, everything seems apt for the content.

The message authoress wants to convey through this book is-
‘Rise and fall,is a part of everyone’s life. But to rise clutching hands of all even and odds and become inspirational for other.Life’s vital decisions are to be taken gently by listening both heart and mind.Keeping faith in oneself and never lose the confidence to stand independenly and bringing out your identity.Though one story but serves many messages. And,its all about time.’
