David Copperfield is a classical story and was published as a book in 1850. The story is an autobiography of David Cooperfield. The title gives the clear hint that book deals with the journey of David Copperfield’s life. In the story protagonist spin a yarn about his own life from his childhood to his adulthood.

The story begins with acknowledging about the birth of the protagonist. Protagonist named David faces so many complications in his life. His father had been died six months ago before his birth. As time passed David was grown up from a toddler to chap. One day he was sent far from his home for two weeks to the nurse Peggoty’s house.

Peggoty was a nice lady and loves him like his own child. At Peggoty’s house David met Ham and Emily. After his return back to his own home he came to know that his mother married to a new man named Mr. Murdstone. His stepfather was a very unkind person and he always treats him poorly. He sent him to a boarding school. Later wards David’s mother and his newborn brother also died. Then David was sent to London for work by his stepfather. He worked in London for some days and ran away from there to his aunt’s house Betsey.

The story sails around so many ups and downs dealing with protagonist life. His aunt lost his belongings and as a result they became poor. David fall in love with a girl named Dora Spenlow. After a lot of struggle they both got married. But Dora also died leaving David buried under her memories. David’s life becomes indurate after going through all this. Then at last David fall in love with Agnes.

The narration voice of the story was moderate. Talking about the writing style-easy as pie. I had liked the humor in the story. The story played all the recorded events of protagonist life’s very neatly. The beginning of the story was really impressive and put a very charming effect on me. But the later part of the story was proved to be slow paced and kindles the feeling of boredom in my mind and thereby releases my attention.

The author had very well defined all the character i.e. Carla, Miss Peggoty, Mr. Peggoty, David’s aunt Betsey Trotwood, Mr. Edward Murdstone and his sister, Mr. Micawber, Wickfields, Mr. Barkis, Uriah Heep, Emily, Ham, Agnes Wickfield , Steerforth and  other characters. Some of the characters are eye catching while some are dull.

There are around 35 plus characters in the whole story as jotted down by me and remembering about them in mind is sometimes proved to be difficult if the reader doesn’t make a clear image of who is related to whom about the characters. Hence it may be befuddling for any reader who is not habitual of going through a book consisting of huge characters.

I found the end of the novel as cliffhanger. What happened to Agnes, would they both met again (David and Agnes) and would their love be unite. All this questions are running in my mind at the end of the story. Although I liked the drama played in the whole story. I also like the pictures which easily depicts the episodes being played in the story.

Altogether a good story neatly depicting web of moments related to protagonist life.
